The Boto Eco-Express

In May 2023, the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS), as part of a Memorandum of Cooperation signed with The Oral Tradition ROOTS Foundation donated a decommissioned mobile library NISSAN UD TRUCK TBM 1201 to be used as part of ROOTS Foundation’s outreach programmes.

In August 2025, the CASCADOO THE FISH was launched as part of the 14th Edition of ROOTS Foundation’s annual spoken word festival, Cascadoo Caribbean New Voices International Festival of Spoken Word.

In December 2025, GRANNY SOL SOL was born.

In April 2026, Soroptimist International Port of Spain Club continued its Primary School intervention projects with ROOTS Foundation through the third installment of Creating and Growing Safe Spaces – BEAT PLASTIC POLLUTION “from Awareness to Action”.

Ripspeed and ROOTS Foundation entered an agreement to maintain and service the BOTO ECO-EXPRESS.

All these factors led to the birth of BOTO THE PLASTIC BOTTLE.

Traveling from school to school and community to community in a branded, refurbished mobile unit, the Boto Eco-Express is a roving outreach learning and recreational bus that transforms education into an engaging, hands-on journey by bringing a vibrant hub of edutainment and fun activities, including traditional and modern games, across Trinidad and Tobago, empowering them to make smarter choices, protect their environment, and become champions of sustainable living moving from Awareness to meaningful Action.

The Boto Eco-Express is a dynamic, mobile environmental education initiative designed to inspire primary school students across Trinidad and Tobago to take action against plastic pollution. Powered by storytelling, creativity, and community engagement, the Eco-Express brings to life beloved characters Boto the Plastic Bottle, Cascadoo the Fish, and Granny Sol Sol through interactive workshops, performances, and visual experiences that teach the importance of the 5Rs: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rethink.

Granny Sol Sol is the wise and caring elder of The Boto Eco-Express family. She teaches children valuable lessons about respecting nature, reducing waste, and using resources wisely, just as older generations once did. With kindness, culture, and traditional wisdom, Granny Sol Sol reminds young people that protecting the Earth is everyone’s responsibility and that simple everyday habits can help build a cleaner, greener future.

Cascadoo the Fish represents the real impact pollution has on rivers, seas, and marine life. As a fun-loving but concerned fish, Cascadoo helps children understand how plastic waste harms animals and destroys natural habitats. Through storytelling and adventure, Cascadoo encourages young people to keep waterways clean and to care for the environment so that fishes, animals, and future generations can live healthier lives.

Boto the Plastic Bottle is the brave and energetic hero of The Boto Eco-Express, teaching children and communities how to protect the environment by reducing plastic pollution. Once seen as ordinary plastic waste, Boto transforms into a youth and uses his strength, courage, and creativity to inspire everyone to Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rethink the way they use plastics. With his bright red cape and positive attitude, Boto reminds everyone that even small actions can make a big difference for the planet.

We need your Sponsorship to Power the Boto Eco-Express

The Boto Eco-Express is more than a mobile environmental project, it is a moving classroom, creative outreach vehicle, and youth empowerment initiative designed to inspire communities across Trinidad and Tobago to take action against plastic pollution.

Through storytelling, animation, arts, environmental education, and the powerful message of the 5Rs – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rethink – Boto the Plastic Bottle, Cascadoo the Fish, and Granny Sol Sol are helping to transform environmental awareness into community action.

We invite corporate partners, foundations, schools, NGOs, and environmentally conscious citizens to sponsor and support the Boto Eco-Express as we bring education, creativity, and sustainability directly into communities.

Your sponsorship will help us Power the Boto Eco-Express to develop educational materials, reusable merchandise, school outreach programmes, community workshops, and interactive environmental experiences that empower the next generation to protect our planet.
