Words In Motion

Beyond the Lens is a photography and filmmaking project which uses digital media content to create social impact. It was launched in 2019 using the Sea Lots Police Youth Club under a project called “See Lots of Imagery” and coined after its facilitator Dr Leniqueca Welcome. The spirit of this project is to use digital media content to create social impact.

Under the Patronage of Dr Leniqueca Welcome and Tracy Farrag Beyond the Lens in partnership with NALIS, will launch its inaugural Challenges:

  • ROOTStories – Photography Challenge of creating a Newspaper Front-Page Photo-Story Headline
  • Words in Motion – Filmmaking Challenge of producing Spoken Word Poetry Videos.

“Spoken word poetry gives voice to the youth. And when combined with film, it compels us to deeper understanding. Have people see your most authentic selves through FILM by going Beyond the Lens.”
